How do we cultivate a spirit of adoption?
Living a life of freedom means there are two questions you have to answer.
Freedom from what and freedom to where?
Gaining freedom is only half battle and often the easier half to obtain. Finding a place to live in freedom can be a much tougher and lengthier process. Gaining freedom takes a second, but living free takes a lifetime.
But where is that place a new believer can go?
Romans 8:117 “For you have not receive a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heard also, heard of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with HIm.”
We have been freed from sin and lead into adoption as sons of God with no separation from the love of God.
Adoption is so pivotal for us to grasp if we want to truly live free. We leave the bonds of slavery and enter into the bonds of sonship! If we don’t understand what this means, we become like orphans. Once again, we would be taking up bonds of slavery, slaves to a poverty mindset and orphan mentality.
If we have been adopted into the family of God, but we think like orphans, then how can we begin to cultivate a spirit of adoption globally amongst the church?
Join me over the next few weeks for a short series on how to cultivate a Spirit of Adoption with in our hearts and the in the heart of the church.
